HELP BUILD THE SPIRIT OF BADMINTON PHOTO WALL

Badminton HouseA new attraction, the Spirit of Badminton Photo Wall, will go on display at this year’s Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials. The ten-metre long wall will be made up of images taken at the event by members of the general public and the wall builders are now asking for your pictures to help put together this special piece of Badminton history. The pictures can be of any subject; spectators, trade stands, officials, dogs, mud, picnics, grooms as well as action shots of horses and riders, as long as they were taken at the horse trials at any time since the first Badminton 58 years ago.

Mitsubishi Motors, title sponsors of the world famous three-day-event, in conjunction with the photographic equipment manufacturers Nikon are offering a fabulous prize for the most outstanding picture which will be judged by a panel made up of Director of Badminton, Hugh Thomas, Badminton’s official photographer Kit Houghton and Head of Public Relations for Mitsubishi Motors, Gabi Whitfield. The winning picture will be the one that in the judge’s opinion most epitomises the spirit of Badminton.

“We are really looking forward to seeing the variety of pictures that we receive,” said Badminton Director Hugh Thomas. “I am sure the wall will create much interest as well as a unique record of memories of the event over the years.”

The wall will be built in time for first day of this year’s Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, which are held at the Duke of Beaufort’s Gloucestershire estate at Badminton, between Thursday 3rd and Sunday 6th May and will stay on display throughout the event. All the pictures that are chosen for the wall will be publicly credited to its photographer.

“The Spirit of Badminton Wall will not be a one-off, we plan to add to it year-on-year and make it a focal point in order for people to share in and enjoy other people’s favourite memories,” added Gabi Whitfield, Head of Public Relations for Mitsubishi Motors. “If anyone feels that they don’t have a suitable photograph to enter now, then I would encourage them to get out the camera at this year’s event and become part of the fabric of Badminton in 2008.”

As well as having their pictures chosen for display to over one hundred thousand people over the Badminton weekend successful entrants will have the chance to win one of two fabulous prizes.

First Prize: £400 of Nikon camera equipment plus VIP entry and full Mitsubishi hospitality at the 2007 Badminton Horse Trials for four persons on the day of their choice (Friday, Saturday or Sunday)
