Pau, in southern France, celebrates its 30th Anniversary event this week
The eyes of the eventing world will be on Pau from the 21st to 25th October to support the only CCI 5* event this year.
The 5* action will feature some of the best event riders in the world. 2019 winners, team GBR rider Tom McEwen and Toledo De Kerser (photographed at Badminton 2019) are returning to the site of their first 5* victory, along with 19 other riders from Great Britain, including World Champion Ros Canter, Piggy March and Oliver Townend.
Team New Zealand riders Tim and Jonelle Price are taking six horses between them. Team Germany has four riders entered with Sandra Auffarth on Viamant Du Matz amongst them.
The Covid Pandemic has had a devastating effect on sport across the globe and it is exciting that the action will be able to take place in front of 5,000 spectators per day who will be cheering on the 11 French combinations entered.
It will be a double celebration as it is the 30th Anniversary of Les Etoiles de Pau. The organisers of the 5* events across the globe have made a good luck video for the team at Pau and you can watch it here.
Badminton event director Jane Tuckwell further commented “We wish all the competitors a successful ride at Pau and hope to see many of them at Badminton in the future.”
