Melanie Deegan is a Somerset-based sculptor whose work is driven by a fascination with energy, texture and form. Working primarily in wire, water-based resins and plaster, and incorporating recycled and natural fabrics wherever possible, she builds each piece by hand from the inside out — constructing an armature before layering surface textures that echo the natural world. Every sculpture is entirely unique, shaped by close observation of her subjects and a desire to capture not just their appearance, but their spirit and movement.

Equestrian sculpture sits at the heart of Melanie’s practice, and the horse — with its power, grace and presence — is a subject she returns to again and again. At Badminton, she will be showing a collection of original works that celebrate the beauty of these extraordinary animals and will be available to discuss your sculpture commission requirements if you prefer something more personal.
