About Badminton Horse Trials:

Badminton Horse Trials is one of the largest outdoor sporting events in the world, attracting 180,000 visitors annually, and engages with a significantly larger audience through its digital channels. The equestrian discipline of Eventing generates a loyal and highly engaged audience attracted by the thrill, excitement and technical achievement required to compete in this demanding sport, where men and women compete on equal footing.

As the most established event of its kind, Badminton also attracts new audiences, either inspired by the Olympic profile of the sport, or those seeking an entertaining family day out.

Badminton employs a small, highly collaborative team supported by hundreds of contractors and volunteers to stage what is generally thought of as ‘the world’s greatest 3-Day-Event’ and a prominent fixture in the global sporting calendar.

 

About the Role:

This is an exciting time to join Badminton as we prepare to stage the event after a two-year absence from the global sporting calendar and prepare plans to revamp and continue the Horse Trial’s process of digital transformation.

During the past 2 years of covid related cancellation Badminton have identified a need to invest more in the engagement with their audiences and are therefore seeking to employ a creative, high energy individual to manage, maintain and grow their audience through content marketing and audience engagement across all of its digital platforms.

The role is based at the Horse Trials Office in the beautiful surroundings of the Badminton House Estate.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Digital Content Marketing & Audience Engagement Manager will hold the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Devise and execute strategic and tactical digital audience engagement plans for the annual event.
  • Collaborate with staff, sponsors, contractors, volunteers and other potential contributors to create interesting and engaging content that audiences will love!
  • Own all digital channels, including web, social media, and on-demand video content, ensuring challenges are met and opportunities are exploited.
  • Monitor and analyse audience engagement to ensure resources and investments are efficiently deployed.
  • Plan and organise audience research and surveys as needed to feedback into the marketing and communications mix.
  • Manage relationships with sponsors and external media contractors / agencies related to the digital channels.

About You:

  • You have at least 3 years of experience in managing digital channels for well known brands and be able to work within an established team.
  • You have a knowledge and feel for equestrian sport and lifestyle.
  • You are able to craft interesting and engaging content, and able to liaise collaboratively with external contributors
  • Know your way around web CMS systems like WordPress, Drupal or similar systems to effectively manage content on the popular Badminton websites.
  • Are very familiar with social media platforms, are able to analyse audience engagement, and able to post and reply in an engaging manner.
  • Have a good understanding of content marketing, SEO, and how to optimise our web presence from a content perspective.
  • Have a good understanding of the challenges and opportunities that running an annual event can present, and demonstrate create ways to maximise ROI
  • Always looking to improve the quality and impact of output for any task at hand
  • You keep abreast of trends in content marketing and social media engagement and are able to apply these within the context of Badminton.
