Well, I’ve made it to the hallowed turf at Badminton for 2016. Both PJ and Raph are settling in well. We’re stabled in the main courtyard on the South side.
Today has been a busy day with dressage lessons on both horses from Nick Burton followed by some filming with the BBC. I made it to the briefing just in time – this is held annually in the village hall here at Badminton. It’s where we get to meet the ground jury, ask questions and hear general ‘house keeping’ rules.
I’ve been for walk around the course…. It’s big but beautifully presented. The ground is on the soft side in places but with the beautiful weather and soft breeze come Saturday I think it will be the best ground Badminton has seen for a number of years. Cannot wait to ride round on Saturday. The plan is to walk again tomorrow with the owners and possibly on Friday morning ahead of Raph’s dressage.
Georgie, my groom, did a wonderful job preparing both PJ and Raph for the trot up. Thanks to her the boys were gleaming and looked a picture infront of the house in the glorious sunshine. Hawthorn tailoring I can’t thank enough for proving me with a stunning jacket to wear. Thanks to Pablo and his team for making it, serious craftsmanship involved. Luckily I survived the ‘runway’ without any wardrobe malfunctions, I’m pretty sure it will happen to me one day though!
The times are out and PJ and I will canter down the centre line at 10:18. Fingers crossed we can do a personal best, he’s certainly on flying form.
