Our two competitors with double entered horses have declared the rides on which they will contest the 2019 Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials.
OLIVER TOWNEND will compete:
9 Cillnabraden Evo GBR
97 Ballaghmor Class GBR
PIPPA FUNNELL will compete:
2 Majas Hope GBR
107 Billy Walk On GBR
Since 2pm on Sunday four riders have now had to make the difficult decision to withdraw from Badminton 2019. Ingrid Klimke (GER) made the call for 15 year old SAP Hale Bob OLD right on the Sunday deadline, enabling Badminton first timer Emma Hyslop-Webb to squeak in off the wait list with her second ride Pennlands Douglas.
“I was really looking forward to the 5 star classic in England, the Badminton Horse Trials. Unfortunately, Bobby has not felt as strong and fit for a few days as I’m used to. It’s not a risk I can take and unfortunately I must cancel the trip to England. I wish you all a great Badminton 2019!”
Tuesday 30th April, two further competitors, Willa Newton (GBR) with Chance Remark and Jonelle Price (NZL) with Classic Moet have also taken themselves off the start list. There are no further substitutions at this late stage.
Willa Newton wrote on her Facebook page:
Jonelle Price and Classic Moet will not be returning to defend their title this year, Team Price had this to say:
Wednesday 1st May, 71 Caroline Clarke (GBR) and Touch Too Much have unfortunately made the decision to withdraw.
While we’re sorry not to see these combinations compete we totally respect the rider’s decisions which are made for the wellbeing of these particular horses. We hope to see them back here next year!
We still have a top class field of competitors all vying to lift the coveted Mitsubishi Motors trophy.
