Long standing fans of Badminton Horse Trials have been enjoying a trip down memory lane, viewing and voting for their favourite moment in our selection of nostalgic Badminton clips. This year is an extra special year at Badminton with 2016 being the anniversary of event sponsorship from Mitsubishi Motors (4- 8 May). Looking back over highlights from 25 years of archive footage has been a fantastic way to celebrate our long lasting partnership with Mitsubishi.
Although it took place two decades ago, the iconic round clip of Sir Mark Todd (NZL) storming around the cross country course with Bertie Blunt despite losing a stirrup is a memory that many spectators clearly remember vividly. This was the viewers choice that topped the voting leaderboard with a huge lead.
The ‘lost stirrup’ round has been the out and out leader from the beginning of the 25 year anniversary video vote and was one of three classic ‘Toddy’ moments in the top ten clips. The list also featured his win with catch ride Horton Point in 1994 and his come-back win in 2011 with NZB Land Vision.

The runner up moment featured another much loved personality, Mary King (née Thomson) winning her first ever Badminton title in 1992 with the gentle giant King William. This was also the first year of the Mitsubishi Motors Trophy.
