Biography

The experienced amateur Olympic rider from Antwerp in Belgium, Joris (59) describes himself as a railway stationmaster. Joris is a long-standing member of the Belgian team – he is a four-time Olympian. Joris first came to Badminton in 2009 and last competed here in 2017. It will however be a first Badminton and 5* for Creator GS who has 4* form.

With the Thoroughbred Bold Action Joris represented Belgium at the 2007 and ’09 European Championships and the 2008 Olympic Games and in 2009 completed his first Badminton. In 2011 with Lully des Aulnes he was member of the team for the European Championships in Luhmuhlen, in 2012 they competed at the London Olympic Games, in 2013 the European Championships in Malmo and in 2014 were members of the Belgian team for the WEG and in 2015 the team for the European championships at Blair Castle.  In 2016 he was a member of the Belgian team for the Rio Olympic Games (24th) – their sixth consecutive major championship together.

He trains with Belgian international show jumper Harrie Smolders

Joris enjoys mountain biking

Creator GS owned by Won-Jae Hong and rider is a 15-year-old Dutch-bred, KWPN registered gelding. He is by the thoroughbred Kreator out of a mare by Caruso. He was formerly jumped by his Korean owner who competed him in the 2018 Asian Games. Joris took the ride the following year and introduced him to eventing.
