Biography

It will be a first Badminton and first 5* for British-based Irish rider Fred Scala (25) who is based near Sandbach in Cheshire. With Badminton entry Everon Vivendi Fred was previously in 2021 2^nd in the 4* at Ballindenisk and last year after returning to the sport after injury was 16^th in the 4*L in Saumur.

Fred enjoys coaching, fishing and boxing

Everon Vivendi owned by the rider is a 16-year-old Irish Sport Horse registered gelding. Bred by George Campbell he is by Ars Vivendi out of Ordell by Touchdown. He was acquired from the sales as a 5-year-old ostensibly to sell on but proved difficult to sell – Fred admits that he was eight before he could take him out in public. In 2021 the combination was selected for the European championship squad but was injured the week before the event. He returned to the sport in 2023 and last year was competing back at 4* level. He has been produced through the levels by Fred.  (Everon has a full brother – one year older – now in his 9^th season in the sport).
