Biography
Harry first completed Badminton in 2019 on HD Bronze.
This time he rides his mother Carole Mutch’s Irish Sport Horse Shanbeg Cooley, by OBOS Quality, who was bought in 2019 as a five-year-old from Cooley Farm in Ireland. The pair withdrew after cross-country at Badminton last year and completed their first five-star together at Burghley in 2023.
Harry lives at near Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear, where he has a number of young horses to bring on.
In his spare time he trains for Ironman triathlons, which takes him all over Europe. Last year he completed a full-distance Ironman and is aiming for two 70.3 Ironmans this year.
His great-uncle, Eric Thompson, completed Badminton six times in the 1960s and ’70s.

- Shanbeg Cooley is one of the top 10 quickest cross-country horses entered at this year’s Badminton. The combination have jumped clear inside-the-time at competitive four-star venues such as Bramham, Burgham and Burnham Market.
- Over his last two season's of international competition, Shanbeg Cooley has only knocked one pole. He has eight clears from nine rounds.
