Biography
It is a first Badminton for British rider Lizzie Baugh (27) who is based near Newark where she runs her own yard. In 2023 with Badminton entry B Exclusive the pair won a 4* section at Chatsworth – a first FEI win for the combination – was 6th at Bramham and last year contested a first 5* at Burghley completing the cross country but had to withdraw before the showjumping.
Lizzie comes from an equestrian background – her mother Karen competed in the sport up to advanced as did sister Jessica who is an experienced show jumper competing at HOYS and Hickstead.
Lizzie has been riding since the age of three, initially competing her Shetland pony at the local gymkhanas before moving on to compete at the Trailblazer Championships. She enjoyed success show jumping her 12.2 and 13.2 ponies, competing at Pony of the Year Show and the Blue Chip Winter Championships. As Lizzie moved on to 14.2 ponies she began to focus on eventing and aged 12 successfully competed in pony trials and at the National Under-16 championships at Brand Hall.
Lizzie was a member of Nottingham Trent University’s Equestrian team and represented them at the BUCS National Championships in 2018, winning both the team and individual competition to become BUCS National Champion. Lizzie went on to represent the GB Student Rider team at a Nations Cup competition in Germany in 2018.
In 2018 &’19 she represented Great Britain at the Young Rider European championships on Quarry Man, with who she contested her first 4* events. Last year with Calida Spice she finished 5th in the Seven-year old class at the World young horse championships in Le Lions

B Exclusive (aka Buzz) owned by the rider is a 15-year-old British-bred SHB(GB) registered gelding. He is homebred by Bazaar’s Exclusive (a son of Welton Crackerjack) out of a mare formerly competed by Lizzie’s Mother. Buzz was broken in by Lizzie’s elder sister Daisy and Lizzie then 16 started riding him as a four-year-and has ridden and produced him ever since. As he turned out much bigger than predicted when he was three the family made the decision to sell him – albeit thankfully as it turned out nobody wanted to buy him. Lizzie says; ‘He is a very special horse to us, a real character around the yard and he knows he is good. He is affectionate but only on his terms and when it suits him!’
