Biography

Brazilian amateur Olympic rider Marcio Carvalho Jorge (42) was a member of the team that competed at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games – finishing 25th individually with Badminton entry Lissy Mac Wayer. A doctor and aneastheologist from Barretos, a municipality in the Northern part of the state of Sao Paulo, he completed his first Badminton in 2014 (Josephine MCJ). He rides each day after he has finished his shift at the hospital. He also manages a rubber plantation.

Marcio, who trains with Mark Todd, took up eventing at the age of 14. He first represented Brazil at the WEG in 1998 (Arabesco) and was a member of the team for London 2012. In 2014 he was named Brazilian event rider of the year

He is also the present Director of the Brazilian Equestrian Confederation and Chairman of the International event Colina (CCI2*)

Marcio is married to Ana Julia and the couple has two daughters; Emiliana (11) and Olivia (9)

Lissy Mac Wayer, owned by the family, is a 14-year-old Westphalian mare. She is by Laomedon (a son of the thoroughbred Lauries Crusador and also the sire of Steffan Peters grand prix dressage horse Legolas). She is out of Pik Dame by Pik Labionics. She was produced by French rider Thomas Carlile with who she won her first one-star. She then came to Lucinda Fredericks before being acquired by Mark Todd. Marcio took the ride in 2013.
