Jodie Amos

Great Britain
  • 8 - Figaro Van Het Broekxhof
  • 101 - Wise Crack

British rider Jodie Amos (31), who is based at Washbrook Farm in Northamptonshire, made her Badminton debut in 2014 with Matt. Last year with Badminton entry Wisecrack she completed Burghley.

Jodie, who is based in Northamptonshire, grew up in France where she began riding and competing in pony events including at the age of 14, the French Pony Championships. She was originally trained by French international rider Laurent Bousquet, trainer to the Belgian Olympic event squad.

In 2002 she returned to the UK to study at Nottingham University and in 2003 competed in her last season in France. She was for a while based with former Olympic three day event medallist Tiny Clapham before moving to Washbrook Farm, at Aston Le Walls where she worked and rode for Nigel and Anne Taylor. She eventually set up her own yard there and is still based at Washbrook Farm.

In 2005 Jodie was short-listed for the British Young rider squad and in 2007 with Altairs Luck, she won the Aldon CCI* and in 2009 the pair was selected for the CCI** European Rural Riders Championships in Hungary, winning team bronze. In 2013 she was selected for the World Class Programme and that year made her four-star debut at Burghley. In 2014 she was the winner of the inaugural Britannia League – for the ‘most successful rider at three-star level who has not competed on a senior British team’. In 2015 with Figaro van het Broekxhof she was a member of the winning British Nations Cup team at Strzegom.

Jodie trains with Nigel Taylor and Andrew Fletcher (dressage) and outside of horses enjoys tennis and travelling

Wise Crack (aka Cracker) owned by Jodie’s long standing owner Mrs Nicola Coates and rider, is a 12-year-old part bred Arab gelding and was bred in Ireland by Alva Power of County Wexford.  He is by the Arab stallion Phormative out of a mare of unverified breeding. He was acquired by Jodie from Connie Colfox in Dorset as a five-year-old. In 2014 the pair was third at Blenheim three-day and he completed his first four-star at Burghley last year.

Figaro van het Broekxhof owned by Mrs Barbara Cooper, is an 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood. He is by Tauber van het Kapelhof out of a mare by Zamiro. He was purchased from Karel Cox in Belgium as a four-year-old and was first produced by Anthony Clark then competed by Sarah Stretton and Sarah Bullimore before coming to Jodie at the end of 2014. At 17.2 he is one of the tallest horses in the field. Badminton is a first four-star for the horse.
