Biography

French Olympic rider Cedric Lyard, (50) gained his first Badminton completion on his last visit in 2018. With Badminton entry Unum de’Or Cedric was 9th at Pau 5* in 2021 – the first 5* for the horse.

Cedric is a professional rider and coach. In June 2021 he relocated to Teloche south of Le Mans where he is based with Laurent Bousquet.

Cedric was born in Grenoble and began riding aged seven and began competing at the age of 13. He has represented France at several major Championships including the 2004 Olympic Games where the team won gold (Fine Merveille). He was also a member of the 2002 silver medal WEG team (Fine Merveille), the 2009 European Championships (Jessy Mail) and competed as an individual in 2003 at Punchestown.

In 2015 he completed his first Burghley in seventh place with Cadeau du Roi and in 2016 the pair returned to take fifth place. The pair was a member of the French team at the 2014 WEG. With Qatar du Puech Rouget he represented France as individual at the 2017 European championships and at the end of the year the pair was third in the four-star at Pau.

Cedric, who trains many young horses, trains with Laurent Bousquet. Asides from horses he loves rock and roll and would have loved to be a rock singer. He has a 20-year-old daughter.

Unum de’Or owned by MC de Lauriere and rider, is a 14-year-old Anglo-Arab registered, French-bred gelding. He was bred by his owner Marie Christine De Lauriere (nee Duroy) and is by the British-bred stallion Yarlands Summersong (by Fleetwater Opposition-Welton Gameful) out of the Anglo Arab mare Fee Du Logis by Prince Igor AA. He was acquired from his breeder/owner – Cedric has ridden him since a six-year-old. In 1995 Marie Christine was eighth at Badminton on Yarlands Summersong and the pair competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Summersong is also the sire of LePrince Des Bois, Mayland de Brunel, Popoff Des Bois. Unum D’Or is also the full brother to Spes Addit’ Or formerly competed in the UK by Astier Nicolas.
