Biography

British rider Nicky Rocoroni (38) is a professional rider based near Cirencester in Gloucestershire. She last competed at Badminton in 2013.

Nicky rode as a child and was a keen member of the Pony Club. She represented Scotland at Junior level and Great Britain at Young Rider level on home produced horses, winning individual European bronze in 1998 in Waregem and team silver in 1999 with Malachy Stone. In 2002 she won her first three-day, the two star at Weston Park and in 2003 made her debut at Badminton (Coots Hill) but had to withdraw after the dressage.

Nicky then began producing horses as a career – Badminton contender Arctic Soul is among those started by Nicky. Her own horse Trig Point became her next four-star horse, with who she also made her British Nations Cup team debut. In 2010, ’12 &’13 she was leading Scottish rider.

Nicky comes from a sporting family. Her mother Janey was the MFH of the Jed Forest Hunt and sister Kate evented to advanced and point-to-pointed winning six races on the bounce in her first season, Uncle David captained Scotland to win the rugby grand slam in 1990.

Nicky trains with Yogi Breisner and Pammy Hutton.

Outside of eventing she enjoys skiing, sailing and all things that ‘spike the adrenalin’. She has sky-dived, absailed, para-glided, sea kayaked and ran three tough mudders.

Stonedge owned by Janey Roncoroni, is a 13-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding. He is by Frodo Baggins out of a mare by the thoroughbred Sheer grit. His sire was an unbroken colt by ARD Ohio who jumped into the field – Stonedge is a one-off as the colt was gelded and exported.  Stonedge was bought out of Ireland as an unbroken three-year-old from Shaun and Sally Parkin and has been produced through the grades by Nicky. As a six-year-old he won the Scottish Novice championships. The following year he suffered a serious fall on the flat but beyond expectations recovered. In 2013 he won the CIC2* at Barbury and in 2014 the CCI3* at Strzegom. He was 12th in his first four-star at Luhmuhlen and was long-listed for the European championships at Blair Castle. Stonedge is owned by Nicky’s mother – her ‘most loyal and long-standing supporter’.
