She did her first international competitions with Daws Willowherb who was formerly ridden to four-star by Clea Phillips. With Willowherb she competed in her first two-star at the age of 16.
In 2011 she was selected with What a Catch for the Young Rider Europeans but was unable to go due to injury to What a Catch.
With Badminton entry Zocarla BLH Danielle won team silver at the 2015 European two-star championships for rural riders. In 2016 they placed 7th in the Under-25 Championship at Bramham and 11th in the CCI3* at Blenheim.
Danielle’s mother Jacquie Toogood completed Badminton (1984 Finisterre II) and Burghley. Her brother James competes internationally in MX2.
Danielle trains with Richard Waygood and Ali Byrne. She is a big fan of sport particularly hockey and skiing.
Zocarla BLH owned by Jenny Lockyer & rider, is a 14-year-old Dutch-bred mare. She is by Hemmingway out of a mare by Zeolit. Zocarla was bought by her owner as a four-year-old for her grand-daughters who had great fun competing her before going to university which is when Danielle took over the ride in 2012 and that year the pair went to the Pony Club championships. Zocarla is described as ‘a little mare with the heart of a lion who has gone above and beyond anyone’s expectations. She is the ‘ultimate diva to catch, she decides’, but overall is an absolute gem’.
