It will be a first Badminton and 5* for British rider Harry Mutch (21) the youngest rider this year. Harry is based near Whitley bay in Tyne and Wear where he runs Harry Mutch Eventing Ltd. Earlier this year with Badminton entry HD Bronze he was second in the CCI4*-L at Barroca D’Alva.
Harry only started riding eight years ago and completed his first season of eventing in 2013 aged 16. HD Bronze was acquired in Ireland as a five-year-old and as Harry had only been riding for a year was given to David Herron to start eventing – he was then competed by Kirsty Cordner for one season and Emily Galbraith. Harry took the ride in 2015 after the horse had recovered from a chipped stifle since when he has been placed at every level. He is described as ‘sensitive and tricky but a cross country machine’.
Harry trains with Christopher Bartle. His Great-Uncle Eric Thompson completed Badminton on several occasions
HD Bronze is an Irish-bred 13-year-old gelding. He is by the successful Holstein sire Limmerick (sire of several four-star horses including Magennis, Lara’s Song, Shannondale Titan, Loughan Glen, Graf Liberty) out of a mare by the thoroughbred Toca Madera (Taufan-Ribero).
