It will be a first Badminton for young American rider Jenny Caras (23) who is based at True Prospect Farm in Pennsylvania. In 2018 with Badminton entry Fernhill Fortitude Jenny won the CCI3* at Bromont and the pair made its four-star debut at Lexington 2017 but did not complete.
Jenny, who is from Cartersville (Georgia) 40 NW of Atlanta, began riding at the age of four and started hunting when she was six. After loaned ponies her parents finally bought her a horse. In 2010 she first competed in the North American Junior Championship and three years later (2013) won team gold and individual bronze at the NA YR two-star championship. (Fernhill Stowaway). In 2014 she began working for and training with American Olympian Phillip Dutton and the following year she was awarded the Markham Trophy as the highest placed YR at Fair Hill CCI3* (Fernhill Fortitude). In 2016 with help from the Karen Stives grant she came to the UK to compete in the U25 championship at Bramham (9th). She has been a member of the USEF Eventing U25 training squad for the last seven seasons (trainer former British rider Leslie Law). After three years of working for Phillip Dutton in 2017 she started her own business Caras Eventing based at True Prospect Farm – the base of Phillip Dutton with whom she still trains. She scored her first FEI win last year when winning the Tallahassee CIC2* (Fernhill Full Throttle) and three months later her second when winning the three-star three day at Bromont.
