On Saturday 17th April 2021, people around the world revisited their memories of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and at Badminton we have very many fond ones indeed.

Badminton Event Director Jane Tuckwell was recently interviewed by BBC Radio Bristol to reflect on his visits to the Horse Trials.

She said: “Badminton is incredibly privileged to have had the association with The Queen and Prince Philip. Especially in the early days of the event, they [Her Majesty The Queen and Prince Philip] were incredibly supportive.

“The Queen was a regular visitor to the event through the 1960s through to the beginning of the 1980s and Prince Philip was often with her. On the many occasions he came to Badminton with The Queen, he was always incredibly encouraging and kind when he met riders and put everyone around him at ease.”
